What Makes a Nation Great !

Watching Cricket highlights on Youtube during leisure time, this question just gripped me.......
i was compelled to think "Why we feel proud when Team India wins", infact why we feel proud when our India achieves something...the question is not mind-churning ......yes right you are......accepted....!!
Just cogitating and taking a small deviation i generalise the questiuon to "What makes a nation great"..hey just a moment gimme a chance to eloborate :-
Scene 1 :- One day went to Delhi Mess for Lunch and as usual greeted with a warm "hi" from the waitor, same time, one labourer (say 'x') came quite tired ( probably after working 5-6 hrs under sun you may feel tired ). 'x' person got no greetings, no welcome, no smiling face from waitor i am sure he had not even noticed it......anyways he ordered for "Roti"..yes you heard it right he came there and iterated "Roti" and waitor asked "15 Rupaya hai".....he checked his upper pocket and enunciated "hai bhai bhookh lagi hai roti laga de"......I dont know what had happened to me at that moment... I was unable to grasp the moment for sure......the waitor if we think according to his business was right...and my mind have no objections but my heart didnt support this.
Scene 2 :- AS i have described above Highlights of some Indian Cricket match.
dont try to correlate above 2, they are not related, they are simple instances which i have observed. You all wont believe but i have been placed on the wrong footing on innumerable instances only to defend India and her Greatness......
It looks to me as if everybody is enamoured of criticing this nation. As i have read during my class 10th whenever you are criticising your nation you are harming its "Shakti Bodh" and "Saundarya Bodh" which means you are trying to change ( or atleast affecting the person or group of persons concerned ) their mindsets to an extent by your comments.
To prove the greatness of something/somebody you dont have to disprove somebody's / something's else greatness. So many things cant even have a comparision. Each nation is different with its own culture, its own resource capabilities, limitations and strengths. The difference lies how effectively you make use of them.Though this nation is marred by so many difficulties, but this is where we have spent our childhood days, this is the place from where you have taken so many things and it is your obligation to return something back. A nation is always governed by dreamers, thinkers, learners, scholars etc. You and i can make a difference, and will make a difference , for this is the change which is constant !!!!!!
Yes Yes Yes.....Its the human force and their belief in the nation that makes it great, its our faith in the nation that makes it great, its our customs, traditions which makes it great...!!!!!!!

Folly and Pride :)

Folly and Pride belongs to continuity, put them deep in earth up they rise in a moment to show a knavish deceitful light.
-Captain Patch
This sentence of Captain Patch, in one lesson of english book of class 9th or 11th still lingers in my mind and had quite a profound effect on me. This sentence actually depicts two very important aspects of the human behaviour.
We make fool of ourselves so many times or to say compelled to behave that way by a sudden desire/impulse. The reasons may be so many and sometimes we dont even realize it. We may behave foolishly ( esp. in front of girls ) to impress them, to show we are cool ( thoug nowhere we are near to it ) etc...The ultimate part is we dont learn by mistakes and the same mistake may repeats itself in another form and then we travel along the continuous path of Foolishness just to our own dismay.
On the other hand Pride too finds place quite easily in our demeanour, if we achieve something we will be on Cloud 9, that is some or less acceptable by common mass, the real problem begins when we feel proud for something very trivial. This short-lived moment of ecstasy sometimes make others angry and lead to over-confidence.
The combined effect of Folly and Pride can just change the course of your direction, and will finally lead you to a situation where you have no easy way out. Once done by them you vow to outsmart them but instead you again fell victim unknowingly in a deceitful way.
So, to me, this line holds true and i ponder quite so many times to outdo them, sometimes i succeed but so many times i fail......!

My Theatre Eperience :-

Hi,
The credit to instigate the desire in me to watch a play in a theatre goes to Pandey ji ( Deepak Pandey ) my flat mate.
It happened one afternoon when we were just discussing our hobbies and about general stuff, he asked me about my interest towards theatre and i simply replied "No Interest". He inspired rather convinced me to watch one play. So, with no choice left and added with a sudden guilt of not being to a single theatre in 23 years of my life i went to "Rang Shankara" - Theare in Bangalore.
I wont say i was mesmerised by it at a first glance but slowly and surely it was having an impact on me....we managed to get a ticket for the show on the next Sunday. As this was my first exposure to theatre i was excited to see the play on that day itself, so we just waited patiently for somebody to cancel their tickets.
Luckily we got the tickets of "Flowers" by Girish karnad and it was a monologue by Rajat kapoor ( Vyomkash Bakshi fame ). Before the play i, by chance, met Rajat and i was relieved by a feeling that i have not wasted my whole money......!
Finally i entered the theatre and the arrangement was quite good....i wont say i was a having a feeling of deja vu but i felt nice, a sense of childish excitement gripped me for no reason. Finally the play started and we are supopsed to sit there for 1hr 15 minutes stupified. I only remember the moment the play started and the moment it got finished, it was such a wonderful expressions by Rajat, soothing lighting effect, brilliant sound effects ,clarity in each and every word pronounced that i felt myself in the play save one moment. The play was about a priest who throughout his life had worshipped Lingam but to his fate fell in love with a courtesan chandrawati. Then begins his desire for her and the feeling of emasculation. There were some moments when i have to muster all my strength to refrain myself from laughing, Some moments when i wanted to cry with artist's expressions esp. when King asks him about the presence of hair- "But i think God does not have long Hairs".
The second play i watched was about the plight of Kirangoan Village ( Bombay ) Mill workers "46 Cotton 84 Polyester", i liked the energy of the artists on the stage, thier acting, the meaning they wanted to convey.....
The Third Play which i watched was "Jamila bai Kamali"- based on the backdrop of Rajasthani culture- has artists like Rajat Kapoor, Ila Arun and other eminent TV personalities.
It would be an understatement to say that the Play was good, believe me it was amazing and reflected the Jamila Bai's commitment to save the Girl from Prostitution. The Play also depicted the plight of Girls and the mentality of common men towards them. The backgroung rajasthani music was quite thrilling.
Though a play is not a quid pro quo for movies, but both forms of arts can go hand in hand, complementing each other reflecting a different face of society.
In the contemporary world Art in the form of play is sine qua non and one must watch atleast one play in his life and surely "no one can watch just once".

Ooty - Connor - Mysore Palace

Hi,
If Hampi trip was unplanned, Ooty trip was not even thought of at the last moment.
It just happened that we were unable to materialise one trip to Wonderla and to compensate for it we decided to go on for Ooty trip at 12 O'Clock Midnight.
So after that we just hired a cab and started our journey.
We passed Bandipur and Madumalai during our journey and found preponderance of Deers, in fact we had a photo too with Deers. After reaching Ooty we booked a Hotel and after some rest move to unveil the mysterious beauty of "Utakmandal". First we went to Dodabetta Peak ( highest in Nilgiri ) 2634 mts above Sea level it may boasts of its height and we have to admit the same.It was quite a good view from their. Then we saw Ooty lake, did boating there, went to Rose Garden and its collection was good though one looking for bunch of Roses will disappoint himself.
Then we went to Botanical Garden and then back to our hotel room.
The Next day we started early to get toy train to reach Connor. It was exhilarating experience for more than once reason. We have nice scenery and we got a good college group, so we played Antakshari and njoid it too :)
In Connor we saw a Tea Factory, Dolphin's Nose, Lamb's Rock,Sim's Park and it seemed to me they tried to emulate Ooty here.
In connore more than anything else we enjoyed Car Ride on Bumpy Tracks and clouds above and below us and drizzle to add special effects.
On our return we went to see Mysore Palace and we saw the famous palace with all the lights showing its grandeur. It was a nice experience.
I have been to hill stations like Shimla , Kodia Canal , Munnar and i always found each one different from other. Though the clouds, the treess, the weather if you look from your naked eyes dont look different but the charm each one possess is different. They are special on their on way and invite each one of us to explore them, to admire them.

Moments of Heroism

Hi all,
To be true this topic popped up in my mind while i was playing cricket with some kannadi boys near my PG in Bangalore. Near to our so called playground( near to PG ),there is a drainage where our team had already sacrificed 2-3 tennis balls. So one fine day( to be precise in the morning ) we all were playing cricket and one batsman hit a shot but to our dismay the ball went to take a bath in the drainage.
We all were wondering about the fate of this new ball and at the same time thinking about the ways to get the ball ( as this time we were able to locate the ball luckily ! ).Some said we shd use a stick but tht wont be enough another shouted, some broached idea to carry a person upside down in the drainage but it was abhorred by all.
We have deployed all the tricks, but the only viable solution of the problem seemed to be to convince one person to go in the drainage and get the ball. And again to convince a person to perfom such a task is really formidable. We all were wondering what to do next and at the same time a nearby caretaker come to the spot and asked us wts the problem, we explained him the same and after listening to the whole story with a mysterious smile on his face he agreed to get the ball.
He manouvered in the drainage and got the ball, and we all clapped, paised him for this task and he too njoid the moment. That was his moment, his moment of importance, his moment of significance, his very moment where he has got recognition by an elite society, his moment of Heroism.
During my childhood days i ve read situations are primarily responsible for emergence of a hero. Its not predecided, its the moment which decides about a hero, which marks him separate from the rest of us.
May be his endeavours if u fathom afterwards may not seem to you charming but the circumstances under which the valor has been shown is the matter of consideration/of worth noticing.
We all have hero in ourselves, sometimes under certain circumstances though for a particular task we promote somebody else but deep inside our hearts we all have a desire to perform the task by ourselves and may be one lucky day turn out as our day, our "Moments of Heroism" .

Science,Religion and Human Being

Hi,
The book "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown has instigated desire in my heart to write something about this unsolved mystery & undoubtedly the biggest question in front of Homo Sapiens till date. "The question itself is pretty simple we just want to resolve the ultimate source of Genesis- our existence - human evolution".
The most accepted theory of Genesis is "Big Bang theory",but this theory itself fails at the point called point of singularity where all the mathematical equations fail. That means scenario before the point of singularity cannot be explained by mathematical equations. This point is taken as the beginnig point of Religion.Even the renowned scientists agree to the fact that big bang theory explaination is not possible without the presence of a Giant enrgy source which finally exploded. This vast energy source is described as "The Almighty God".This source which is regarded as the ultimate source/reason for our existence is still a mystery.Niether Science nor religion has a satisfatory explaination for the same.
According to hindu Mythology the ultimate aim of every human being on earth is to strive for "Moksha Prapti" which means no further birth and our soul be merged with the "Parmatma" like rivers merge with sea.
I dont think we are safe under the assumptions that all the holy books, temples , miracles are just fake since u cannot make all the persons fool all the time.No doubt some of them are exxagerated but at least that privelege should be given to Poets isnt it.? No doubt Sceince has progresses pretty well and has shattered some of the dogmas or myths. But as per the Brown book saying Sceince is still very naive and has not attained that level of understanding that it can make an entry in the foohold of God, The fortress of Almighty.
Einstein's rightly said "God Does not play dice with the universe", and i m confused to on one point...is it mandatory that each and every thing that happen must have a reason...dont u have faced situations where something has happened but still u dont have words to explain it/ to put forward. I dont think everything can be explained in words and mathematical equations...? Will Science be ever able to measure the Love of a mother in a equation based on certain factors..? do we have any mathematical equation which fits correctly to our emotions, out predeliction towards somebody without any reason........? Why we dont wonder that everything that has been on planet is as per a perfect system and a single deviation from the present situation will lead to annihilation and all these cannot be just a simple coincidecne where something explodes and lead to perfect placement of all the items to their perfect locations.
No doubt sceince can explain some of the questions but not all.......
Sceince on the other hand too contributed for the well-being of society by pulverizing so many diseases, wonderous inventions etc...
Thus according to me science and religion are complimentary to each other, they can co-exist and flourish and can work for the well-being of human being.

My Experiment with Happiness !

Hi...
believe it or not the smile on the face of a small kid had forced me to write this blog.!
outside our flat live 2 small kids and their favourite time pass is to lock our door from outside....! so,yesterday when we were leaving for some work they were trying to lock the door and we saw them and tried to frighten them...they run away and again came near to us, started laughing without any reason-its like they have got some treasure or something- u shd see the milky whiteness in thr eyes...their fearless gestures.....!!!!
Thinking about the same I felt pity on me- who thinks twice before laughing- since i m a memebr of a grown up society....! I rem. on of my frds saying.."wts the point in growing up when u cant be childish at times" correct rt...! then my thoughts wandered off to other deeper issues like wt i ve lost as i ve grown up...!
thr r so many other heart touching moments which i have preserved.....one such moment is related to One Diwali Night.....though i m sure my words wont be able to express my genuine feelings --they wont suffice for this expression- but i wil give my try to capture those memories...
So it began when i went to one nearby shop to purchase something...and at the very same moment one person ( a labourer ) with his child came to the shop......for quite some time they were watching the crackers as they were looking at "Kohinoor Diamond" .....finally the father succumbed to his child's pressure/desire and bought one cracker ( ya one cracker only "Shulti bomb" i think, sorry, i dont think, i m sure he had only tht much money)....
and within a second he lighted it in shop's premises..bang explode...and wt it this both child and his father were mad with joy....laughing / jumping, a feeling of ecstacy gripped them and i was left wondering...at first i cant even imagine wt is happening and they were still laughing........!!!!!!never in my life i had heard/seen/listen such a
heartful laugh without fear...without any biasing without looking around...they r happy in thr own world though they ve so many miseries they were njoing the moment ....is this is not wt mattered most in our lives ..! the happiness which is pious, pure , pristine.........and thr i was left shattered Weeping ......why and why and why i have not purchased another cracker costing a mere 2 or 3 rs. ...
ya i behave like a stupid so many times and i justify myself by one or other manipulations/reasons but till date i dont have any explaination for tht very moment......!in other words i cant excuse myself......!
Happiness for which we all are striving / craving must be reflected from our heart....! isnt it..???
yesterday only i got a glimpse of tht laughter in the eyes of the kids..and
i landed here...!

My Trip to Hampi - " If dreams were made out of stone, it would be Hampi"

Hi buddies !
welcome to Hampi - The lonely Planet, the lost World !!!!!.....
Hampi trip was my first non-planned trip.
From hyderabad we reached Hospet junction and then to see hampi we had 2 options either to take a tourist bus or to take a van.we opted for the second.
Hampi is a very vast area and is spread in 2 diff directions.
on the first day we went first to "Virupaaksha Temple", the architecture of which was typical south indain, Hemkut mountain which was having so many temples reminiscents,Underground Temple- The underground is a misnomer here since the the place where is has been built is somewt below the ground level and thts y the temple has been given the name underground temple-.,meditation room whr we all found for the Bats since the place has been abandoned a long back,we saw distorted "Narsimha" and i felt a attraction in tht sculpture for unknown reasons, near to tht a Shiv Lingam has been placed which was magnificent.watching all these i was astonished and felt very joy . it was all like a dream since i m watching a diff civilisation altogether , a city which has been ruined but still adamant enough to prove its significance, its glory, its grandeur ...!!!!! try to look beyond the stones they tell u thr story....! may be u manage to laugh but u cant ignore thr silent glare at you.
next we went to place called "Queens bath", lotus temple and stone chariot and also saw Monolithic Nandi, mustard shaped monolithic Ganesh, sister stones - they say they r cursed since they make fun of Hampi-,viruthala temple etc.
The next day we went to Anegundi and on one mountain called "Anjanaadri"-which is believed to be "Birthplace of Hanumaan".Hampi is also believed to be "Kiskindha" which according to hindu mythology was kingdom of Bali and Sugreev.
we saw so many other temples "Durga Temple",Pampa Sarovar etc. which are of Mythological importance.yeah! we also seen "Tunghbhadra dam" ....!
finally wee hurried up to reach the station at time, preserving the sweet, remarkable, unforgettable and cherishable moments of Hampi- the lost World , where i lost my heart !!!..

Salar Jung Museum and Nijam's Jewellery Exhibition !

Hey,
Welcome to the world of Nizams of Hyderabad......our journey begins now...:)
Museum ....no way sudhir...are u gone mad...i m not coming.! are the words i heard when i asked my roommates and wipro mates to come to "Salar Jung Museum".
One day, one frd of mine asked "sudhir r u interested in coming to museum" i said yes instantly..! so thts how our journey started....and i dont want to go into details how we reached thr..it was drizzling tht day and the weather was awesome..!
The museum is quite big and have excellent collection of ancient items like ivory work, paintings, carpets, sculptures, arms, jewellery etc.......
first we entered the "room for ivory collection".....and i liked "Carpet" woven out of Ivory and carving of elephants in ascending order on single tusk of elephant,Swords, daggers etc.
I also came to know ivory does not only mean work on Elephant's tusk..!
the mastery with which the work has been performed is really good !
then we saw paintings and oil paintings looked almost real and the serenity on the face of one of the lady in painting was realy good, one sculpture which looks like a man from front and its image in the mirror is that of a girl ( fantastically done ) , To do mastery it requires time ,once its done it becomes treasure for the life time.
Aurangzab's mighty sword, his dress and other arms of ancient time were feast for the eyes :)
The harbinger of death one time now a piece of antique..time plays cruel games indeed..!
A clock made of 350 parts was centre of attraction for the kids.
After Salar Jung we went to see Nijam's Jewellery collection and while entering i felt like i m going inside a military camp, soldiers with machine guns, high profile chking etc.......finally we landed in the room whr the collection was kept....!
we saw "Jacob Diamond" cost 400 croress only ! , and diamonds, emaralds rubies were present everywhere and the jewels were shining reminding us of our glorious ancient past
saying to me hello do u like us....we r the reasons for rise and fall of many kingdoms ....
though it was only a glimpse of wt has been left by Britishers...and other invaders....the reminiscents are plenty enough to prove the prosperity, mettle of ancient india !

Mystery of Nanhi Si Jaan :)

Hi,
ya i am small as compared to big s/w industry,ya my jaan is described correctly as "nanhi si jaan" as i am striving to preserve the small innocent child inside me in this big mean world, where everyone is fighting to get better appraisals in this cut-throat competition.
There are so many things to mourn upon but i just dont want to waste ur and mine time by indulging in them."Life is beautiful" they say, i agree but thr should be some time to live the way u want, the way u dream, the way u think !
Am i only a robot to finish the work as per the guidelines meeting the deadlines unless and until i am dead...?
"Work is Worship" i dont agree, and whoever agrees do think from our perspective and you will come to know! Recently i had a long discussion with my PM regarding working late nights....rest of the team watching as mere spectators,i always believe in expressing your thoughts, your concerns and your views, the PM says once the money gets flowing you wont feel working late....!!!But dear sir wts the point in earning when u dont have time to spend...!
life has to take its course, its direction and we have to govern it our own way by preserving the innocence we all possess, desires which are deep inside our heart waiting to find thr path in our big money driven world, our dreams which are slowly but surely vanishing from our mind ...!
My God do help me in preserving the small kid inside me as long as I live....since i dont want to be grown up and kill my nanhi si jaan inside me ...:)
